A unique Approach

The AIESEC Exchange Process

Before starting the internship
After the selection process, the student's data are being registered in an AIESEC computer programme. This computer programme finds "online" the best matching internship(s) available in order to offer the trainee the internship for which he /she is best suited. In the corresponding city where the "selected" company is located, AIESEC members are looking for accommodation, arranging all necessary residence, working permits and visa formalities. In order to allow our students a proper preparation, AIESEC in Germany organises various Exchange Preparation Seminars where prospective trainees can learn about other mentalities and how to cope with living abroad.

During the traineeship
AIESEC-trainees are being looked after by the respective local committee during their whole stay: They will be picked up at the airport, accompanied to their working place on their first day and integrated into daily life by small private parties/meetings or even by big national or regional events to which all AIESEC members and trainees of the hosting country are invited to. AIESEC members can be contacted at any time also in case of other problems.

After the traineeship
Upon their return the trainees report to interested students about their stay abroad in order to share their experiences and to pass on the thought of cultural understanding.

The basis of the project "AIESEC meets EXPO 2000" was the traineeship exchange. We realised 26 traineeships and member exchanges in several Local Committees in Germany. Those traineeships were either related to the topic of EXPO, sustainable development, or directly at the EXPO itself in Hanover. The trainees were coming from 12 different countries ranging from Colombia over Egypt to the Philippines. The participants of the project took part in a program that included a preparation conference, several weekend seminars to different aspects of sustainability and a Follow-up Conference to ensure that the idea of sustainability will be implemented in the different countries of the world.
