Welcome to AIESEC meets EXPO 2000!
Welcome
on the pages of "AIESEC meets EXPO 2000", the National Project of
AIESEC in Germany in 1999-2000!
What you find here is a summary of our activities during the Summer of Sustainability,
when 25 trainees came to work on and learn about the concept of Sustainable
Development. Traineeships, seminars, excursions, conferences, and, above all,
the World Exposition in Hannover - this is what awaitied the students from such
different countries as Colombia, Egypt, Russia, Slovenia, and the Philippines.
The aim of the project was two-fold: To enrich the AIESEC exchange process with
an intensive debate on a relevant issue, i.e. Sustainable Development, and,
at the same time, enliven the discussion of this topic by bringing in a n intercultural
perspective. On this basis, we were able to both involve companies through the
traineeships they provided and contribute ourselves to the official international
dialogue between stakeholders like Unesco, the Club of Rome, the World Bank,
and many others more.
With the project, the Team "AIESEC meets EXPO 2000" wanted to set
an example of successful integration of a topic relevant to our societies into
the specific traineeship cycle, thus providing a unique learning experiences
with an added value. With this approach, we hope that our project will serve
as an inspiration to the many committed young people out there - and that we
have been able to spark innovation in project development.
